Sri Lanka plans new boat services to boost tourism and transport.

The Cabinet has approved a proposal to launch boat services using Sri Lanka’s coastal areas and inland waterways to promote tourism and improve passenger transport.

Coastal transport routes between Puttalam-Colombo, Colombo-Galle, and Galle-Matara are planned, along with inland routes on Hamilton Canal, Beira Lake, Diyawanna Oya, and Maduganga.

Feasibility studies will be carried out, and the project will move forward as a public-private partnership.
