Sri Lanka holds tourism roadshow in Saudi Arabia.

To draw tourists from Saudi Arabia, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh has been hosting a roadshow across the Kingdom. Together with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, the embassy planned the roadshow, which was held twice: first in Riyadh on Tuesday and again in Alkhobar on Thursday. Ameer Ajwad, Sri Lanka’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, opened the roadshow, which included a number of destination-management firms from both countries.

After a six-year break, Ajwad told Arab News on Thursday that the program represented a major new chapter in Sri Lanka’s attempts to promote tourism in Saudi Arabia. He called on both countries’ travel agencies to work together to promote Sri Lanka. By 2027, Saudi Arabian visitors are anticipated to spend $25.49 billion on international travel, he added. The two countries enjoy close connections and recently celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations, according to Ajwad.

Both Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka have a great deal of potential to work together and support one another in the tourist sector because they are actively promoting it. “For this reason, it will be beneficial for both government authorities to facilitate regular communication between the inbound and outbound tour operators of both countries,” he continued. Additionally, on Tuesday, Ajwad opened a special Snapchat account called “Jannat Dunya” in Arabic to advertise Sri Lanka travel to Saudi Arabia.
